Our lab focuses in developing science-based solutions for the conservation and management of marine megafauna. Our research draws together a wide range of disciplines (ecology, biology, geology, climatology, and conservation policy and biology) and we often work closely with various stakeholders on interdisciplinary research topics and management issues.

Through our research, we aim to: (1) conduct innovative science that is applied to conservation and management issues, (2) build the knowledge and capacity of communities to sustainable manage their resources, and (3) bring awareness to issues related to marine conservation and highlight ways that the broader community can help.

Conservation  of  marine  mega-fauna  in  a  changing  world
The goal of this research theme is to provide ecological and biological data at the appropriate temporal and spatial scale to improve the management of marine mega-fauna in a changing environment. Read More

Resilience  of  marine  mega-fauna
This research theme recognizes that managers and practitioners should give high priority to increase biodiversity’s resilience to environmental change until climate change impacts manifest themselves. Read More

Spatial ecology of marine mega-fauna
This research theme recognizes that an understanding of how animals use space is fundamental for their conservation. Read More

Effective  conservation  of  marine  mega-fauna
The goal of this research theme is to provide managers with tools to enhance the effectiveness  conservation efforts and to identify stressors that if reduced will provide the most benefit to species persistence. Read More
